Cosmic Byte CB-GK-26 Mechanical Keyboard Review — Best Budget Blue Switch Under ₹2,500 India
Cosmic Byte CB-GK-26 Mechanical Keyboard (Blue Switch) — India Review
The CB-GK-26 is the keyboard I point people to when they ask me what a ₹2,000 mechanical keyboard actually feels like in 2026. Cosmic Byte has been pushing budget-friendly peripherals through Rashi Peripherals for years now, and this one sits at ₹2,100–2,499 across MDComputers, Amazon India, and Flipkart. For a first mechanical keyboard, it's hard to argue with the price.
What You're Actually Getting
The CB-GK-26 uses Outemu Blue switches — the Chinese clone of the classic Cherry MX Blue. You get the tactile bump and that loud, clicky sound. This is not a keyboard for office use or anyone sharing a room. But if you're building a gaming or home setup and want the classic mechanical typing experience, these switches are perfectly adequate at this price point.
The top plate is metal, which I didn't expect at ₹2,100. It gives the board a rigidity that most membrane keyboards twice the price can't match. The bottom is plastic, the cable is braided and non-detachable, and the USB connector is standard Type-A. No USB passthrough, no media keys — this is a no-frills full-size layout.
RGB is present but controlled through key combinations, with no software. The modes cycle through — wave, static, breathing — and it works well enough. The actual lighting is bright and the per-key LEDs are visible even in a well-lit room.
Pricing and Availability in India
At ₹2,100–2,499 depending on the seller and time of year, this keyboard routinely goes on sale during Amazon and Flipkart sales events. Cosmic Byte products are distributed through Rashi Peripherals, which means decent availability even in tier-2 cities — you're not dependent on a single distributor.
MDComputers and PrimeABGB stock it consistently. Vedant Computers carries it too. If you're buying during a sale, I'd target ₹2,100 as the floor and not pay more than ₹2,499 at any point.
GST is included in the MRP on all these platforms — no surprise charges at checkout. Warranty is 1 year and Cosmic Byte has service support in major cities, though you'll need to ship it to a service center if you're outside Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Hyderabad.
One thing I want to flag for anyone in coastal or humid regions: Blue switches and humidity don't have a great relationship over time. The spring mechanism inside Outemu Blues can develop a slightly scratchy feel in high-humidity environments after a year or two. If you're in Chennai, Kochi, or Mumbai and keep your room warm and humid through monsoon, consider light lube on the stabilizers when you first get the board.
Who Should Buy This
You're building your first gaming PC under ₹40,000 and want a proper mechanical keyboard without stretching the budget. You type a lot and want the tactile feedback advantage over membrane. You're a student or young professional who works from home and doesn't share a workspace with others.
Who Should Skip This
Anyone in a shared office or open-plan space — the Blues are genuinely loud enough to annoy people nearby. If you need a detachable cable for portability, look elsewhere. If you already know you want something quieter, the Ant Esports MK1800 with Brown switches is worth a look. And if you're considering spending just ₹500–800 more, the Redragon K552 Kumara offers noticeably better switches and keycap legends that don't fade as quickly.
Questions
A: They're similar in feel — tactile bump, clicky sound — but Outemu switches are made in China and have slightly more wobble in the stem. At this price, the difference is acceptable. Cherry MX Blues would push the keyboard into the ₹4,000+ bracket.
A: It works plug-and-play with any PC running Windows or Linux. It won't work with PS5 or Xbox for typing, though basic input may register. For PC gaming builds, it's fully compatible.
A: The keycaps are ABS plastic with laser-etched legends. Within 6–12 months of heavy use, the legends will visibly fade and the surface will develop a shine. It's one of the real downsides at this price. If keycap longevity matters to you, budget ₹400–600 for a PBT keycap set replacement down the line.
A: Online availability through Amazon India and Flipkart is consistent. Local shops in tier-2 cities may or may not stock Cosmic Byte — call ahead or order online.
