Logitech MX Keys S Review India — The ₹9,999 Productivity Keyboard for Professionals
Logitech MX Keys S — A Keyboard Built for People Who Type All Day
The MX Keys S is not a gaming keyboard. I want to be clear about that immediately because it sometimes gets compared to gaming keyboards in the same price range, and the comparison is irrelevant. This keyboard is built for professionals who type thousands of words daily — writers, developers, analysts, designers — and it's exceptional at that.
At ₹9,499–10,499, it's the wireless productivity keyboard I recommend to anyone asking "what keyboard should I get for work?" in India's ₹10,000 and under range.
What Works
The typing experience is the core selling point. MX Keys S uses scissor switches with spherically-dished keycaps — each key has a slight concave cup that naturally centers your fingertips. After a day of typing on this keyboard, going back to a flat-top gaming keyboard feels wrong. The key travel (1.8mm) is enough for tactile satisfaction without the full 4mm of a mechanical switch.
Multi-device Bluetooth connectivity is a genuine productivity multiplier. Three simultaneous device pairings, switchable via Easy-Switch keys on F1-F3. I use this pattern constantly: Mac for primary work, Windows desktop for testing, iPad for reference. One keyboard, zero cable juggling. In Indian office setups where many professionals run a work laptop + personal desktop, this is invaluable.
Smart backlighting adjusts to ambient light automatically and activates when your hands approach the keyboard (proximity sensor). Battery life is up to 10 days with backlighting, months without. USB-C charging brings it in line with modern expectations.
The F-row keys are smart function keys by default — brightness, volume, media controls — useful shortcuts for productivity without Fn combos. Remappable through Logi Options+ (excellent software, one of the better peripheral apps available).
What Doesn't Work
If you game at all, the MX Keys S will disappoint. No N-key rollover, scissor switches lack the speed and precision of mechanical gaming switches, and Logi Options+ doesn't support gaming-oriented features. This isn't a criticism — it's just not designed for gaming.
The full-size layout includes a numpad, which limits portability slightly. Logitech makes the MX Keys Mini for compact setups, but in India it's rarer and similarly priced. Confirm your desk space before ordering the full-size.
At ₹9,499–10,499, this is a productivity premium play. Mechanical keyboards with gaming switches exist at this price. The choice is between typing optimization and gaming capability — the MX Keys S is unambiguously the former.
India Availability and Value
Available at Amazon India, Flipkart, Croma, and Vijay Sales. Logitech's retail distribution is excellent — MX series products are consistently stocked. Warranty is 2 years from Logitech India, with a solid customer care process for the premium line.
For professionals billing ₹50,000+ per month, spending ₹10,000 on a keyboard that reduces typing fatigue and enables multi-device workflows is easily justified. For students or casual home users, it's an expensive choice relative to alternatives.
Who Should Buy This
Buy the MX Keys S if you're a professional who types extensively — developer, writer, analyst, designer. Multi-device pairing is the killer feature for anyone running more than one computer. Buy it if you work from home and want a premium desk experience without gaming peripherals cluttering your workspace.
Skip it entirely if gaming is any part of your use case. Also skip it if you want mechanical switch feel — the scissor switches are excellent for typing but mechanically different from Cherry MX or similar. And skip it if you're on a tight budget — for ₹5,000 less you can get functional wired mechanicals.
Questions
The S adds a few improvements: faster Bluetooth pairing, updated backlight smart control, and slightly improved key feel. The differences are incremental. If you find original MX Keys at a heavy discount, it's still an excellent buy. The S is the better long-term purchase at similar pricing.
Yes — any Bluetooth device including Android phones, iPhones, and iPads. The Bluetooth Logi Bolt USB receiver is included for 2.4GHz connection to a desktop if needed. This is genuine flexibility.
Very quiet. Scissor switches with dampened travel — quieter than budget mechanical keyboards, comparable to a good laptop keyboard. Open-plan offices are fine. No complaints from call participants in my experience.
