WALI GSDM001: The Bare-Bones Single Arm That Does the Job

The WALI GSDM001 sits at ₹2,299–2,699 on Amazon India, making it one of the cheaper single monitor arms available. It is a friction-joint arm - no gas spring - and it shows in the adjustment experience. But if your primary goal is clearing desk space and you are willing to use a screwdriver to reposition occasionally, it is a functional buy.

What You Are Getting at This Price

Friction-joint arms lock position by tightening adjustment screws at each joint. The GSDM001 has two pivot points - one at the desk mount and one mid-arm - plus tilt adjustment at the monitor head. Setup is straightforward: clamp to desk, attach VESA plate to monitor, connect the two.

The build is all-metal, which I appreciate at this price point. Some arms in this range use plastic joints that flex under load and cause drift. The WALI feels solid in hand. Maximum load is 8 kg, which is higher than the North Bayou F195A's 6.5 kg ceiling, so heavier 27-inch monitors are more safely supported here.

The Friction Joint Trade-Off

India Reality: Hollow Desks

I keep repeating this warning across these articles because the damage is real. Indian office furniture in the ₹5,000–15,000 range is very often hollow-core or thin particleboard. The WALI's clamp, like any clamp, concentrates force at two points on the desk surface. If those two points are over a hollow cavity, the surface will crack under the weight of a monitor extended outward.

Test your desk before clamping: knock on the surface near where you plan to mount. Hollow thud means hollow construction. Add a backing board under the desk surface before clamping.

Who Should Buy

You want a set-it-and-forget-it arm for a single monitor up to 8 kg, you have a solid desk, and you do not want to spend more than ₹2,700. The GSDM001 covers that.

Who Should Skip

Anyone who adjusts their monitor frequently. Also, if desk aesthetics matter - cable management on this arm is a single clip on the pole, not a routed channel. Cables will be visible unless you manage them separately.

At ₹2,299–2,699 this is the floor of what I would recommend. Below this price, build quality tends to drop enough that arms fail within a year.
