Havit HV-L136: India's Cheapest Decent Monitor Light Has a Clear Audience

At ₹1,499–1,799, the Havit HV-L136 is the lowest entry point for a real monitor-mounted light bar in India. It appears on both Amazon India and Flipkart, and it trades on the Havit brand name - which has been selling keyboards, mice, and accessories in India long enough to have some aftermarket credibility. The question is whether "cheap and from a known brand" is enough justification to buy it over slightly pricier options from Aigo or DAPOW.

What the HV-L136 Offers

The HV-L136 is a 40 cm bar with a clip mount that handles monitors 1–3.5 cm thick - slightly narrower than the Aigo or DAPOW range, so check your monitor's bezel thickness before ordering. It powers over USB-A at 5V/1A and draws around 4W at full brightness.

Touch controls are on the bar itself: tap to toggle, hold for brightness, tap again for colour temperature shift. Colour temperature range is 3,000K–6,000K - a narrower spread than the DAPOW's 3,000–6,500K, but the warm end is usable and the cool end bright enough for daytime work.

CRI is rated at 85. That's below the 90 CRI of the Aigo and noticeably below the DAPOW's 95. For general use - typing, reading, browsing - it doesn't matter. USB-A power is the right call for India's monitor landscape. The HV-L136 will run off any USB port on your monitor, desktop, or a wall adapter. No USB-C means no flexibility for newer setups, but most budget desks in India aren't USB-C-forward yet anyway.

Power fluctuation tolerance is similar to other USB 5V bars - it's low-draw enough that a basic UPS or stabilised power strip keeps it steady. I've not seen flicker issues from power variance in normal use.

Honest Downsides

The 3.5 cm maximum mount thickness is genuinely limiting. Some older monitors with thick plastic bezels - LG, Samsung budget panels from 2019–2021 - exceed this. Measure first.

Skip it if your monitor bezel is over 3.5 cm thick, if you do colour work of any kind, or if you're spending 6+ hours daily at that desk. The ₹300–500 premium for the Aigo or DAPOW pays back in comfort within a week.
