A Chipset Tier GetPC Hasn't Covered Before

I'm writing about eight Z690 and H670 boards in this batch, and this is the only H670 board among them, and the only H670 board on GetPC at all. H670 occupies a specific spot in Intel's LGA1700 chipset stack: below Z690 (which supports CPU overclocking) but above B660 and H610 in terms of PCIe lanes, USB connectivity, and general feature completeness. Think of it as "most of Z690's feature set, minus the ability to overclock."

The Overclocking Question, Answered Upfront

If you're eyeing this board for a K-series or KF-series CPU with plans to overclock, stop, H670 doesn't support that regardless of which chip you pair it with. Where this board makes real sense is with a locked CPU like the i5-12400F, which has no overclocking capability to begin with. In that pairing, you're not giving up anything by choosing H670 over Z690, and you're saving real money that's better spent on your GPU or storage. Pairing an unlocked chip like the i5-13600KF here would mean deliberately leaving performance on the table, a valid choice if budget is tight, but one to make knowingly rather than by accident.

Where H670 Beats Z690 on Value

Look at the price chart above and you'll notice the H670-Plus D4 actually costs more than the ASRock Z690 Phantom Gaming 4/D5, despite lacking overclocking support. That's brand and feature-set pricing rather than a chipset-tier rule, ASUS's Prime series carries a modest premium over ASRock's budget Phantom Gaming line. If your priority is strictly the lowest price with CPU overclocking intact, the Phantom Gaming 4/D5 is actually the better deal. Choose the H670-Plus D4 specifically for ASUS's build quality and BIOS experience, or if you're already committed to a locked CPU and don't need Z690 at all.

₹20,000 on Flipkart. Reasonable for a full-featured, DDR4, ASUS-branded LGA1700 board, though as noted above it's not automatically the cheapest way onto the platform if overclocking isn't a factor for you either way.

Skip this if you own or plan to buy a K-series or KF-series CPU and want to actually use its overclocking headroom, any Z690 board in this batch is the better fit, or if pure lowest price matters more than brand, the Phantom Gaming 4/D5 undercuts this board.
