The MX Master 3S is the mouse I use on my main workstation. I've tried switching twice in the past year — once to a vertical mouse for ergonomics, once to a trackball out of curiosity — and I came back both times. At ₹8,500–9,500 in India, it's the most expensive productivity mouse I'd recommend without hesitation, and the one I'd caution you about buying if your use case doesn't fit it.

How It Actually Performs

The Darkfield sensor tracks on virtually every surface including glass desks — a real differentiator if you work at a glass table or in an environment where you can't always use a mousepad. Tracking at 8,000 DPI is smooth and accurate for productivity tasks. Pointer precision is excellent across screen resolutions from 1080p to 4K.

The MagSpeed scroll wheel is the feature that spoils you permanently. It switches between a precise click-to-click scroll mode (for navigating line by line) and a frictionless electromagnetic flywheel mode (for scrolling through long documents or codebases at speed). The transition is automatic based on how fast you flick the wheel. After a week with this mouse, every other scroll wheel feels primitive.

Silent clicks are the big change in the 3S over the MX Master 3. The primary buttons use a silent mechanism that reduces click noise by about 90% without making the actuation feel mushy. If you work in a quiet home office, shared workspace, or late at night when the family is asleep, this is a feature you'll appreciate every single day. Logitech claims the click sound is reduced to under 20dB — functionally, it's near-silent.

At ₹8,500–9,500, the MX Master 3S is one of the more expensive peripherals you'll buy for a workstation in India. Amazon India is the most reliable source with regular stock and straightforward returns. Flipkart carries it too, typically at a similar price. MDComputers and PrimeABGB both stock it for those who prefer to buy from specialist PC retailers.

The price is high partly because of import duties on premium peripherals. The MX Master 3 launched at a lower price point and crept up over time — the 3S launched closer to its current price. During Amazon sale events, expect ₹7,500–8,000 discounts — patience pays.

Logitech India offers a 2-year warranty handled through Rashi Peripherals. For a ₹9,000 mouse, I'd strongly suggest registering the product on Logitech's website immediately after purchase. The warranty process is smooth for genuine claims.

One India-specific advantage: the USB-C charging means you can top up from any phone charger or laptop charger during power cuts. You're never in a situation where you need a proprietary cable.

Who Should Buy the MX Master 3S

Buy this if you're a developer, designer, content creator, or writer who spends 6–10 hours daily at a desk. The MagSpeed scroll wheel alone will improve your workflow measurably. Buy it if you switch between two or three computers (home, office, laptop) — the three-device Bluetooth switching is seamless.

Who Should Skip the MX Master 3S

Skip it if you're a gamer primarily. At 141g with no high-polling-rate wireless (it runs at 125Hz Bluetooth or 500Hz Logi Bolt, not 1000Hz), it's not built for competitive FPS. The ergonomic shape is right-hand only — if you're left-handed, there's no MX Master option for you.

Skip it if ₹9,000 is a significant portion of your build budget. The Logitech G304 at ₹2,600–3,000 is a far better value for the money spent on gaming performance. The MX Master 3S is specifically justified by productivity workflow improvements, not gaming ability.
