What You Actually Get

The Prime Z690-A DDR5 runs a 14+1 DrMOS VRM design, which is more than enough headroom for a Core i5-12400F or Core i5-13400F, and comfortably handles a Core i7 at stock or mild XMP tuning. It won't be the board you reach for on an all-out i9-14900K manual overclock, but for stock-to-moderate use it's not the bottleneck.

Storage is generous for the price: three M.2 slots directly on the PCB, with ASUS bundling a Hyper M.2 card in the box that adds two more via the PCIe 5.0 x16 slot's bifurcation support (you lose some GPU lane bandwidth if you populate all five, so most builders will stick to the three onboard slots). You get a PCIe 5.0 x16 primary slot, 2.5G LAN, and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C on the rear I/O.
