SilverStone FARA R1 V2 India Review - Budget Mesh ATX Case Under ₹4,500
SilverStone is not a brand that gets discussed much in Indian PC building circles. When people talk budget cases here, the conversation usually starts and ends with Ant Esports, Zebronics, or maybe Cooler Master. That's partly a distribution issue - SilverStone's India availability is thinner than some competitors. But the FARA R1 V2 is worth knowing about if you're shopping for a budget mesh case and want better build quality than the typical options at this price.
What the FARA R1 V2 Offers
SilverStone built the FARA R1 V2 around their core strength: airflow-focused design even at budget price points. The front panel is mesh - genuine mesh, not plastic with token slots - and the side panel is tempered glass. Two 120mm fans are included, which is standard for this price segment.
Core specs:
- Mid-tower ATX (mATX and Mini-ITX compatible)
- Mesh front panel
- TG side panel
- GPU clearance: 380mm
- Radiator support: 240mm front, 120mm rear
- Two 120mm fans included
- Two 3.5" HDD bays, two 2.5" SSD mounts
The 380mm GPU clearance handles every card currently sold in India including high-end options. Radiator support stops at 240mm at the front, which limits it - no 360mm AIO in this case. That's a real trade-off if you're planning a liquid-cooled build.
India Pricing and Availability
The FARA R1 V2 sits in the ₹5,000–7,500 range in India, which puts it squarely against Ant Esports mid-range mesh cases and the lower end of Cooler Master offerings. MDComputers is your primary source - they stock SilverStone more consistently than most Indian retailers. Vedant Computers occasionally carries it. Amazon India and Flipkart listings exist but stock is unreliable; don't count on same-day shipping from those platforms for this model.
PrimeABGB does not stock the FARA R1 V2 consistently. If MDComputers is out, check Vedant before going to marketplace sellers.
Build Quality vs. the Competition
This is where the FARA R1 V2 earns its recommendation. Ant Esports cases at ₹4,000–6,000 use thinner steel and lighter plastic components. The finish feels less considered. The FARA R1 V2's panels feel more substantial - not premium, but the difference between budget and cheap is noticeable when you're installing components.
Cable management space behind the motherboard tray is adequate rather than generous - about 20mm. If you're working with a modular PSU and a bundle of cables, it'll take patience. A non-modular PSU at this budget tier will be tighter still. That's a common trade-off at this price in this form factor.
Airflow in India's Climate
India's summer ambient temperatures - 35–40°C in most tier-2 cities from March to June - mean that a mesh front panel is not a nice-to-have. It's the baseline you should require at any budget. The FARA R1 V2 delivers this.
Two included fans pulling air through the mesh front and one rear exhaust slot (fan not included at rear - the two fans cover front intake only, you'll want to add a ₹400–600 rear fan) keeps thermals reasonable. For a Ryzen 5 5600 or i5-12400F build with a budget air cooler, this setup handles Indian summer temperatures without issue if the room has any airflow. In a sealed, un-air-conditioned room in peak summer, you'll want to add that rear exhaust fan early.
Who Should Buy the FARA R1 V2
Buy it if:
- Your case budget is ₹5,000–7,000
- You want better build quality than Ant Esports at a similar price
- You don't need 360mm radiator support
- MDComputers is your preferred retailer
Look elsewhere if:
- You need a 360mm AIO - the Phanteks G360A at ₹7,500 handles that
- Ant Esports has something at ₹500 less and budget is tight - the difference in build quality may not justify the extra spend for a genuinely constrained build
- Local availability is critical - Ant Esports cases are at every regional distributor in India
The FARA R1 V2 is a quiet overachiever in a market segment dominated by louder brands. SilverStone's airflow expertise shows even at budget tier.
