i5-12400 India Review: The Non-F Version - Do You Need the iGPU?
When the iGPU Matters
The i5-12400 and i5-12400F are identical chips at the silicon level - same 6 P-cores, same cache, same clock speeds (up to 4.4GHz boost). The only difference: the non-F has Intel UHD 730 graphics enabled, the F variant has it fused off.
Intel UHD 730 is not a gaming iGPU - it handles basic display output and light workloads, but can't game in any meaningful sense. The specific scenarios where paying the i5-12400 premium makes sense: building a gaming PC where you might need display output before your GPU arrives, running a multi-monitor setup where the iGPU drives a secondary screen, or corporate IT environments where verified iGPU functionality is required for compatibility.
For everyone else building a gaming PC: buy the i5-12400F and save ₹2,000–4,000.
India Pricing
₹16,000–21,000 for the non-F vs ₹13,000–17,000 for the i5-12400F. Same LGA1700 platform, same boards. The premium varies by retailer - check MDComputers, PrimeABGB, and Amazon India before buying. DDR4 and DDR5 both supported.
Who Should Buy the i5-12400 (non-F)
Buy this if: You need iGPU output for a specific reason (multi-monitor without dedicated GPU load, CPU-only display requirements, corporate compatibility), or you're building a system and the GPU is arriving later.
Skip this if: You have a dedicated GPU and only use it for gaming - the iGPU is unused and you're paying ₹2,000–4,000 for nothing.
Questions
i5-12400F if you have a dedicated GPU. i5-12400 only if iGPU matters for your specific setup.
Very light titles only - Minecraft, old CS:GO, some older strategy games. Modern games: no. It's a display output iGPU, not a gaming iGPU.
Yes - Intel Laminar RM1 cooler included. Adequate for stock speeds on the non-K chip.
