Lian Li A3-mATX: A Genuinely Small Case That Still Fits a Real GPU

Lian Li's SFF pedigree comes from the DAN Cases collaboration lineage, but the A3-mATX isn't trying to be an ultra-compact showpiece that fights you at every step. It's the practical middle ground, small enough to not dominate a desk in a shared Indian apartment or hostel room, but roomy enough that building in it doesn't feel like solving a puzzle.

Small footprint, surprisingly few compromises

The headline surprise here is what the A3-mATX doesn't restrict. Despite the compact mATX/ITX footprint, it takes a full-size ATX power supply (no forced SFX purchase, which usually adds cost) and GPUs up to roughly 380mm long. That covers the RTX 4070 and even most RTX 4070 Ti cards without needing to hunt for a low-profile variant, something that trips up a lot of buyers going small-form-factor for the first time thinking they'll need to compromise on GPU choice.

The mesh side and front panels keep airflow solid for the size class. In Indian conditions, small cases with restricted airflow are a real thermal risk once you hit 35-40°C ambient in summer, so the mesh-forward design here is the right call. What it doesn't do well is dust filtration, it's minimal to non-existent depending on configuration, so if you're in a dusty city or running the PC near an open window during monsoon season, plan on wiping down the interior every couple of weeks rather than relying on a filter to do the job for you.

Building in it takes more patience than a standard ATX tower. Routing cables in a smaller chassis means less slack, less hidden space, and more careful planning before you start screwing things in. I wouldn't recommend this as someone's very first build unless they're comfortable watching a build video twice before starting.

Where it sits on price

At ₹6,990-8,245, this is well below what you'd typically pay to get into "small form factor done properly" territory, where cases from other SFF-focused brands often start closer to ₹12,000-15,000. That makes the A3-mATX a genuinely good budget entry point if the compact form factor itself is the goal, not just a side effect of a small budget.

Who should buy this, who should skip it

Buy it if you want a compact, desk-visible second PC or HTPC-style build and don't mind a slightly fiddlier build process. Skip it if you're a first-time builder who wants the easiest possible cable routing, a bigger ATX case like the Lian Li Lancool 207 will be far less frustrating for a first attempt.
