Why Go ATX on a B660 Build
Most B660 boards I've covered so far are mATX, because that's what most budget LGA1700 builds use. The Prime B660-Plus D4 is different. It's full ATX, which means more PCIe slots, generally more fan headers, and a bit more room to work with if you're running multiple expansion cards or just prefer a bigger board in a mid-tower or full-tower case. It's DDR4, non-K obviously since B660 doesn't do CPU overclocking, and it skips WiFi entirely.
That last point is the real decision here. ASUS already has the Prime B660M-A WiFi D4 on the site, an mATX board with WiFi built in. This board flips both of those choices: bigger form factor, no WiFi. If you're near your router, running Ethernet, or planning to drop in your own WiFi card or USB adapter later, you're not losing anything by skipping the built-in WiFi, and you save a bit of money doing it.
One thing worth repeating for anyone new to B660: it natively supports 12th-gen CPUs, and it'll run 13th/14th-gen non-K chips like the Core i5-13400F or i5-14400F fine, but only after a BIOS update. If you're buying this board for one of the newer CPUs and building from scratch, update the BIOS with an older supported chip first, or check with the seller that it ships with a current BIOS. This trips up more first-time builders than it should.
