Part of that popularity is straightforward: it's one of the cheapest X570 boards with WiFi 6 built in, which matters a lot if you're building in a spot without easy ethernet access, and dual M.2 slots that both run PCIe 4.0 rather than one fast and one relegated to PCIe 3.0.
Why X570 Over B550 for This Kind of Build
If you're assembling an AM4 system in 2026, the case for X570 over the cheaper B550 tier comes down to two things: guaranteed native PCIe 4.0 across GPU and both M.2 slots, and stronger VRM headroom for the higher-draw Ryzen 5000 chips like the 5900X and 5950X. B550 boards vary a lot in whether they deliver full PCIe 4.0 on the second M.2 slot, X570 doesn't have that ambiguity, the chipset itself provides the lanes.
The Elite WiFi's VRM is a solid mid-tier design, more than enough for a 5800X3D (which barely stresses any modern X570 VRM) and comfortable for a 5900X under sustained load. If you're specifically chasing max headroom for a 5950X pushed to its limits, the ASRock X570 Taichi or ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming give you more margin, but for the vast majority of 5000-series builds, the Elite WiFi's VRM is not the limiting factor.
