30-Second Version: The i7-12700F is Alder Lake's 12-core (8P+4E) chip - the generation before Raptor Lake. At ₹22,000–28,000 in India it's clearance territory. The i7-13700KF (16 cores, faster) and i7-14700KF (20 cores, fastest) are both available at similar or slightly higher prices. The only reason to buy the 12700F is finding it significantly cheaper - ₹6,000+ below the 13700KF. Otherwise the newer generations are clearly better value, especially in multi-threaded work where the core count advantage is decisive.

Why the 12700F Is Clearance Territory

The i7-12700F has 12 cores: 8 P-cores (4.9GHz boost) and 4 E-cores. Good for its launch in late 2021. By 2025 standards it's been superseded by two generations - the 13700KF added 4 more E-cores (now 8, totaling 16 cores) and the 14700KF pushed to 12 E-cores (20 total). Each generation meaningfully improved multi-thread throughput.

Gaming performance: similar to 13700KF and 14700KF. In games that use 4–6 threads, all three perform essentially the same. The 12700F loses in multi-threaded workloads where the newer chips' extra E-cores carry significant weight.

At equal pricing: always buy the newer generation. The 12700F only wins on clearance price.
