I hadn't covered any ASRock B550 board on GetPC until this batch, ASRock's AM4 coverage here was basically just the old A520M-HVS. That's a real gap, because ASRock is one of the most-stocked AM4 brands at Indian retailers, and the B550 PRO4 is their entry point into full ATX at this chipset.
If you've read my B550M Pro4 writeup, this is the same board philosophy stretched to ATX: four DDR4 DIMM slots, a CPU-attached PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for your GPU, and two M.2 slots (one runs PCIe 4.0 straight off the CPU, the second is PCIe 3.0 off the chipset). Six SATA ports round out storage. It's a board built for people who want ATX case compatibility and a couple of extra PCIe slots for a capture card or extra SSD controller, not for people chasing overclocking headroom.
Where It Fits Against the Competition
At ₹12,200 it sits above the mATX budget boards (B550M-HDV, B550M Pro4) but below the gaming-branded Phantom Gaming 4 (₹9,500, which is actually cheaper despite being newer, ASRock's pricing across this lineup isn't strictly tiered by feature set, it moves with retailer stock and demand). Compared directly, Phantom Gaming 4 gets you a nicer audio codec and RGB headers for less money right now, so if aesthetics matter to you at all, check that board first. The PRO4 earns its keep on being a stable, well-reviewed board with no surprises.
VRM and Ryzen 5000 Compatibility
The PRO4's power delivery is fine for a Ryzen 5 5600 or Ryzen 7 5700X run at stock clocks. I wouldn't push a 5800X or 5900X on this board under sustained heavy load, the VRM isn't built for that kind of headroom. If you're set on a higher-end Ryzen 5000 chip, look at the B550 Steel Legend instead, its Dr. MOS power stages have real margin for the bigger chips.
