A Good Board, An Odd Price

The Prime B840M-A WIFI-CSM is exactly what you'd expect from ASUS's Prime line: clean layout, decent VRM heatsinking for the tier, WiFi built in, and ASUS's usual BIOS polish. AM5 socket, DDR5 memory, PCIe 4.0, no CPU multiplier overclocking since that's a B840 chipset limit across every brand, not an ASUS choice.

Here's the part worth being honest about: at ₹18,708-18,710, this board costs noticeably more than MSI's B840M options, despite being the same mATX form factor on the same chipset. That's not a typo or a bad listing, I've checked it at both MDComputers and PrimeABGB and the price holds. You're paying ASUS's brand and perceived build-quality premium on a chipset where the underlying capability is largely fixed by AMD's spec sheet, not by which manufacturer's logo is on the box.

Is that premium worth it? If you trust ASUS's BIOS experience and QC more, or you're staying in the ASUS ecosystem for warranty simplicity, sure. If you're purely optimizing price-to-spec on a budget build, it's a harder sell.

What You Actually Get

DDR5 support, WiFi onboard, PBO and EXPO both work fine even without multiplier OC, and ASUS's Prime BIOS is genuinely easy to navigate for first-time builders. Build quality feels a step above the cheapest B840 boards on the market, with better spacing around the CPU socket for cooler compatibility.

What you don't get versus a B650 board: PCIe 5.0, the extra USB and SATA headers, and any real overclocking headroom. B840 is B840 regardless of brand markup.

CPU Pairing

This board makes sense with Ryzen 5 7600, Ryzen 5 9600X, or the Ryzen 7 8700G for an APU-only build. None of these chips benefit from multiplier overclocking enough to miss it, so B840's core limitation isn't really a loss here.

Who Should Buy / Who Should Skip

Buy this if you specifically want ASUS's BIOS and build quality on a B840 board and the extra ₹3,000-4,000 over MSI's equivalent doesn't break your budget.

Skip this if you're optimizing strictly for value. The MSI B840 boards deliver the same chipset capability for less, and that gap buys you a better cooler or more RAM elsewhere in the build.
