Why Small Form Factor Matters More in India

I get asked a lot less about ITX builds than I probably should, given how many GetPC readers are building in one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad where desk space and floor space are both at a premium. A full ATX tower with a 45-50 litre case eats real estate that a lot of Indian setups simply don't have. A mini-ITX build in a 10-20 litre case sits on a desk without dominating it, and it's a lot easier to move if you shift houses, which, let's be honest, happens often in rental markets.

The Z790M-ITX WiFi is ASRock's answer for anyone who wants that smaller footprint without giving up Z790's overclocking support and DDR5 platform.

What You Give Up, and What You Don't

You get two DDR5 slots, with ASRock currently specifying up to 128GB, subject to compatible modules and BIOS. There are two Gen4 x4 M.2 sockets; M2_2 also accepts SATA M.2. Two sockets cannot hold three onboard NVMe drives. Check the manual for sharing rules rather than assuming SATA support means a bandwidth conflict.

The board has a 7+1+1 Dr.MOS power design, a single PCIe 5.0 x16 GPU slot, an eight-layer PCB, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Check the CPU list and BIOS for a 13600KF or 14700K; GetPC has not measured sustained boost or overclocking on this board.

Cooling and Case Considerations

An ITX build needs a case-specific cooling plan. Check CPU-cooler height, radiator clearance, GPU thickness and airflow before buying. The board’s size alone does not establish its temperatures or a safe i9-14900K power limit.

India's climate adds a layer here too. In un-airconditioned rooms during summer months, ITX cases with limited airflow run hotter than their ATX equivalents at the same ambient temperature. If you're in a hot city and don't run AC in your build room regularly, lean toward a case with a mesh front panel and good exhaust rather than a fully enclosed aesthetic-first ITX case.

India Pricing

₹22,500–24,500 at PrimeABGB, with EliteHubs carrying comparable stock. Pair it with an ITX case in the ₹6,000-10,000 range (Cooler Master NR200P, a case explicitly specified for Mini-ITX, or similar) and you're looking at a genuinely compact, genuinely capable Z790 system.

Who Should Buy / Who Should Skip

Buy this if you want a small-footprint Z790 build for a desk or a tight apartment, you're running one GPU and don't need more than two NVMe drives, and your CPU choice tops out around a 13600KF to 14700K for daily use.

Skip this if you need four RAM slots, more than 128GB of supported memory or three onboard NVMe drives. For heavy CPU workloads, compare measured thermals at the power limits you intend to use.
